The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts were hailed as champions of the
Chooks-to-GO SM National Basketball Training Camp (NBTC) Tournament –Negros
Occidental leg on Feb.1.
Hailed as kings of Bacolod high school
basketball, the thunderbolts struck the qualifiers after sweeping their two
matches against San Carlos champions Tañon College, 83-59, and Silay-Sagay leg
victors MDM College, 91-81.
Among the players of Thunderbolts were
the six-foot-nine center Heinz Gabriel Demisana, Fritz Valencia, Martin
Beatingo, Kent Esparagoza, Josh Luciano, Nathan Jundana, John Mark Mercado,
Jules Wong, Joseph Palaganas, Andy Villamer, Ralph Cagalawan, Dritter Ilalto,
Lucky Charm Ramos, Benedick Gulmatico and Leindon Chong.
For topping the Negros Occidental leg, the Thunderbolts will advance to the
Western Visayas regional finals slated to be held on Feb. 25 in Ibajay, Aklan.
In the regional finals, the Thunderbolts will clash against Iloilo leg champion
Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix, Guimaras leg’s Guimaras State College,
Antique’s Col. Ruperto Abellon National High School, Aklan’s Mechor Memorial
School Inc. and the winner of Capiz leg for the right to represent Western
Visayas in the national finals.
The NBTC Negros Occidental qualifiers was presented by SM, Chooks to Go, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Go for Gold, Molten, Vivo, Smart, Cignal, Phoenix, Darlington Exped and Espn5./PN
