SAN JOSE, Antique – In line with the Fire Prevention Month, Fire stations in Antique have opened their doors to the public to give them experience on how to be firefighters.

Antique’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) information officer Vilmarie Pagunsan said that the 5-day open house activity began on March 9.

“We have the ‘Bahay ni Juan, Bahay ni Berong’, which is a five-day open house in the different fire stations,” Pagunsan said.

According to her, the activity was part of the fire safety education for students, teachers, and parents who visited the fire stations in the 18 municipalities of the province.

The students were also given a tour of the fire station premises and were introduced to firefighting activities under the supervision of the BFP personnel.

Belison municipal fire marshal, Senior Fire Officer 2 Jones Dioso, on the other hand, said a total of 48 preschoolers from two schools in the town visited their fire station on March 10.

“The preschoolers really enjoyed the open house. Through the open house, the preschoolers at their early age were already able to learn about the work of firemen,” Dioso said.

To add, a BFP mascot entertained the preschoolers. The fire station also gave fire safety tips to students in order to raise their awareness.(With a report from PNA/PN)
