ILOILO – Bingawan has been declared the best performing among fourth- to sixth-class municipalities in Western Visayas.
The town under Mayor Mark Palabrica bagged the 2018 Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Award.
The awarding ceremony was held on Dec. 12 at a hotel in Iloilo City.
The annual EXCELL Awards of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) encourages local government units to do well in various areas of governance.
Bingawan also bested other municipalities in the areas of Administrative Governance and Environmental Governance.
On top of these, Bingawan also bagged a special award – Most Innovative Best Practice for its program “Pamankutanon Sang Banwa.”
Bingawan was first runner-up in the areas of Local Legislation and Economic Governance, and second runner-up in Social Governance.
Palabrica hailed the local government officials of Bingawan for the town’s good showing in the annual EXCELL Awards.
“Ang support sang local officials No. 1 gid. Kon waay nagabuligay ayawan kami lambot sining awards,” said Palabrica.
One of the programs of Bingawan that impressed the DILG was the “MARK of Excellence” or the Management of solid waste, Adequate sanitation, Rehabilitation of green area, and Knowledge sharing of best practices. This is a solid waste management contest among barangays.
