CAPIZ – The  Capiz Provincial Government is now preparing for yet another grand Christmas festival dubbed “Paskwa sang Maragtas” in December this year.

Gov. Fredenil Castro and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office head Alphonsus Tesoro convened local chief executives and tourism officers of the province’s 17 municipalities and its capital Roxas City on June 20.

Also present during the meeting were Capiz Schools Division Superintendent Miguel Mac D. Aposin and representatives from other sectors.

Gov. Castro said the meeting aims to gather inputs for the upcoming festival as well as to ensure that the series of activities would attract not only local but also foreign tourists.

“Since nangin madinalag-on kag nagtatak sa tanan ang ‘Paskwa sang Maragtas’ last Christmas, gusto namon ma-maintain or if possible mag-level up ang programs para maka-attract pa gid sang mas madamo nga mga tawo, especially foreign tourists,” the governor said.

For this year’s edition of Paskwa sang Maragtas, the Christmas Village will still be up at the Capiz Provincial Park. Parol making contest will also remain and more participants are expected to join.

Among the Paskwa sang Maragtas 2023 activities were Christmas Bazaar featuring different local government units’ products and specialties like native delicacies, fruits, agri-aquamarine products, processed food, crafts, and woodworks, among other souvenir items; and “LagawOne Group Tours” or a curated tour showcasing the tourism attractions, product offerings, Christmas Village and bazaar, culture and traditions, and the arts and crafts of city/municipal destinations in the province./PN
