ILOILO City – Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), issued a public warning after a recent incident where his name was falsely used to harass government employees.

The police director reported that an unidentified male impersonated him during a phone call to the Iloilo City Hall’s accounting and budget office.

The caller, who introduced himself as Colonel Coronica, demanded to speak with the department head about arranging catering for 20 police visitors.

When the staff responded by providing catering options, the imposter became irate and began shouting.

Coronica emphasized that such behavior is not in line with his character or professional conduct.

“I want to alert employees in government and possibly private offices that someone is misusing my name,” he said, clarifying that he had not made any such calls.

The ICPO is now investigating the incident to identify the impersonator and understand his motives.

The two phone numbers used by the caller have been made public — 09670685022 and 09074558623 — in an effort to prevent further misuse and to aid in the investigation.

The ICPO director expressed his dismay over the situation, asserting his commitment to his duties and his innocence in any wrongdoing that could warrant such impersonation.

“I have no known grievances with anyone that would justify this misuse of my identity. I sincerely apologize to anyone victimized by this person and urge him to cease these actions as we are bound to uncover his identity,” said Coronica./PN
