MANILA – Neophyte Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go said there will be no “conflict of interest” with his work at the Senate despite his close relationship with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Go on Thursday said his ties with Duterte will not hinder his duties as a lawmaker.

Go, former special assistant to the President, added that on top of Senate works, he was determined to fulfill his promise to assist Duterte when needed.

“Priority ko ang pagiging senador. But, in my own personal capacity, hindi ko po iiwanan si Pangulong Duterte. Pangako ko ‘yan sa kanya. Tutulungan ko po si Pangulong Duterte,” Go said.

“Wala po, dahil uunahin ko po ang trabaho ko bilang senador,” added Go when asked about the criticism over his close ties with the President, specifically to claims of possible “conflict of interest.”

Go was one of the former Duterte Cabinet officials, who won the recent Senate race, including Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Francis Tolentino./PN
