DAR turns over farm to market road in Dumangas, Iloilo

THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned-over P25.8 million worth of 3.7 kilometer farm-to-market road to the LGU of Dumangas in Iloilo.  The concreting of Pulao – Sitio Bulod – Sulangan FMR aimed to provide easier and faster access for the farmers to bring their agricultural produce to the markets. It would not only benefit the 279 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in the said barangays but also other residents living nearby.

 

The blessing of the road was officiated by Fr. Adrianne Quirong (IFI).

Project cost was equally shared by the LGU with the help of Iloilo Governor Arthur D. Defensor, Sr. and from the funds under the Agrarian Reform Communities Project (ARCP) II. Governor Defensor said he is very much willing to help in any way he can in facilitating such projects.

In a simple ceremony, DAR Secretary John R. Castriciones was introduced by DAR-6 regional director Atty. Eugene P. Follante. He said that President Rodrigo R. Duterte would like to address the concerns of the farmers and to uplift their economic lives. He was instructed by the President to prepare and draft a bill to continue CARP and even the Land Bank of the Philippines was also told to extend credit facilities, and to simplify and lessen the requirements for the farmers.   Likewise, he would also facilitate for the provision of support services such as farm to market roads, postharvest facilities and other farm implements./PN
