Guimaras’ 4Ps exemplary children, model families recognized

GUIMARAS – A student from San Lorenzo town and a family from Barangay Tacay, Buenavista were declared winners of the 2024 Search for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) Exemplary Child and Huwarang Pamilya, respectively, in this province on Monday, June 24.

Quenny Joy Asgar, a Grade 8 student of Dr. Catalino G. Nava Memorial High School, bested four other candidates, to represent Guimaras in the regional search.

She also bagged special awards: Best in Interview, Best in Production Number, Best in Documentation, and Darling of the Crowd.

Asgar took home a cash prize of P12,500 (P5,500 from the provincial government; P5,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); and P2,000 from Gov. JC Rahman A. Nava).

Denise Chezka Gajo of Sibunag was declared first runner-up and received P8,000 cash prize. She also won the Best in Talent award. Ackerleigh Olexie Panaguiton of Nueva Valencia placed second runner-up and took home P6,000.

Candidates Rice Irish Lacar from Buenavista and Kyle Gabriel Enrique from Jordan received P3,000 each as consolation prize.

Meanwhile, the family of Freddie and Mary Joy Jallores from Buenavista was hailed as the province’s 2024 4Ps Huwarang Pamilyang. They received a cash prize of P7,000 from the provincial government.

The Escarpe family of San Lorenzo placed first runner-up and received P5,500 while Tinas family of Barangay Igang, Nueva Valencia was adjudged second runner-up and received P4,500.

Cordero and Estilloro families from Barangay Sabang, Sibunag and Barangays Balcon Melliza, Jordan, respectively, each got a P4,000 consolation prize.  

Gov. Nava lauded the DSWD and other stakeholders for honoring the outstanding 4Ps beneficiaries.

The search for 4Ps Exemplary Children and Huwarang Pamilya recognizes family and children beneficiaries who are able to comply with the conditions set by the program, sustain family togetherness, and become active citizens in their communities despite the challenges brought about by poverty.

He said 4Ps had brought great impact in meeting the needs of poor families, especially their children.
