ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has a new P13-million building on General Luna Street, City Proper.
It houses ICPO’s Administrative Office, Strategic Management Office, Evidence Room, Intelligence Room, Interrogation Room, Supply Room, Finance Section, Traffic Investigation Office, and Office of the City Director, among others.
The Iloilo City Public Safety Company will occupy the former ICPO office.
Policemen should be more motivated to perform their duties and help maintain peace and order in the metropolis, said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
“The police force has always been recognized under this administration as partners of peace and progress that have brought a lot of developments in the city. We know they have important role in our society that is why the police should be fully supported,” he stressed during the building’s inauguration on June 8.
The new ICPO building was funded through the Philippine National Police’s Trust Receipt Fund.
Construction works started on Jan. 7, 2016 and completed March 30.
Mabilog, meanwhile, assured the ICPO that the city government will always be ready to provide the police with the needed equipment, vehicles and infrastructure.
“We have already donated and helped you with almost everything you need, from Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) equipment, firearms, motor vehicles, and radio equipment you ask every year. We always include it in our budget for the campaign against illegal drugs since 2010 and even increase our budget in 2014,” said Mabilog.
The mayor will ask the city council to re-align ICPO’s budget for vehicles and motorcycles this year to office equipment.
“We found out that the rooms are still empty without aircon and furniture,” said Mabilog.
ICPO director Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso thanked the city government “for constantly supporting your police.”
Police Regional Office 6 director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag described the new ICPO building “world-class.”
“This model city police station project is a major undertaking to win back our people’s trust, confidence and support. More than just upgrading our offices and police equipment, it is about improving the way we serve people in the city,” said Binag. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
