BORACAY – Kalibo Bishop Jose Corazon Tala-oc told the devotees of the Señor Santo Niño to care for the indigenous people.

“It seems they are on their own, and there are people who take advantage sa kanilang kahinaan,” Tala-oc said.

During his homily at the Pilgrims Mass, Tala-oc urged the faithful to spread mercy and love to the indigenous people in the province which include Ati communities in Dina-ut in Altavas, Cubay, Cogon, Boracay Island in Malay, and Bulwang in Numancia.

The cold wind and rain did not stop a closely packed crowd in attending the Pilgrims Mass in the Cathedral front yard and Kalibo Pastrana Park.

Kalibo celebrated the Feast of Señor Santo Niño and the weeklong Ati-Atihan Festival from Jan. 2 to Jan. 19.

“May this jubilant festival mean more to us not just merrymaking and street dancing as we allow Child Jesus to reign in our hearts and lives,” said Tala-oc.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
