MANILA – The company in charge of building the Makati City subway system assured that the P178-billion project will give priority to Filipino workers.
Philippine Infradev president and CEO Antonio Tiu on Friday said the infrastructure project will employ up to 10,000 workers.
“I would like to remind all the investors to make sure that it’s always the Filipino first. So, just like the subway, it’s going to employ 10,000 people,” Tiu told a media forum in Quezon City.
“There are strict requirements in our JD (joint development) agreement that all the laborers have to come from Makati or local community,” he added.
Moreover, Tiu said “there is a provision of technical knowledge transfer where within a few years our local people can intervene,” should there be instances where foreign workers with the required technical skills will be brought in.
The 10-kilometer subway system will run from EDSA-Ayala to Ospital ng Makati.
The target completion date for the project is 2025. (GMA News)
