MALAY, Aklan – A private firm is seeking endorsement from the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) for its wind farm project in the province.
Triconti ECC Renewables Corp.’s wind farm will cover barangays Napaan and Argao in Malay and barangays Rizal, Unidos, Libertad, Tagaroroc, Habana, and Gibon in Nabas.
The project is Triconti ECC’s joint venture with the Corporate Energies of Germany.
Project manager Engineer Guian Carlo Mascardo said the “Aklan 1 Wind Project” is currently under a “pre-development stage.”
Mascardo said they need the SB’s endorsement for the processing of permits and other regulatory requirements.
He added that they will conduct public consultations and coordinate with the local government units for the development and management of the wind farm.
Triconti ECC will also secure a height clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a certificate of non-coverage from the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples and an environmental compliance certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The wind farm has a $270-million budget. It has a three-phase wind farm facility that includes 31 turbines with a total power capacity of 75 megawatts. (With a report from Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
