Over half a billion pesos agri-fishery interventions for Panay

ILOILO City – Agricultural and fishery interventions worth P514,279,217 for farmers and fisherfolk across Panay Island, including Guimaras, were released on Thursday during the visit of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The event, held at the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, was led by Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr.

The interventions included post-harvest machinery and equipment, irrigation development projects, and the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program.

Other interventions were insurance indemnity claims, the Survival and Recovery (SURE) and Agrinegosyo (ANYO) Loan Programs Fund for Lending Conduits, production support services, mechanization and seed programs under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund, fishery livelihood projects, and an oyster production, processing, and marketing enterprise under the Philippine Rural Development Project.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the El Niño phenomenon, President Marcos emphasized his commitment to supporting the local agriculture and fishery sectors.

“We are aware of the need for support and partnership to overcome the challenges associated with El Niño,” said President Marcos.

For Corn

* Re-circulating dryer, digital weighing scale and bagger-sewer for Patnongon Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) and Katilingban Kang Mangungoma in San Remigio, all in Antique – P3,783,300 each
* Digital weighing scale and bagger sewer for KAMAPAT Agriculture Cooperative in Patnongon – P283,500
* Processing Facility Hauling Vehicle and sets of tools and equipment for Altavas Small Fisherman Association in Altavas, Aklan and Tinagong Dagat Fisherfolks Association in Altavas, Aklan – P11,949,433
* Hybrid corn seeds, inorganic fertilizers and biofertilizers for Hamtic MPC – P212,520
* Seven units of power sprayer and one unit of multi-cultivator for Sibalom Mango Growers Association in Sibalom, Federasyon kang Mangungoma kag Mangingisda in San Jose, and Lacayon Farmers Association in Bugasong  – P550,000

For Rice

* Construction of Diverision Dam for Aguila Farmers Association in Sebaste, Antique -P5, 849,474.29 and Hamtic MPC  – P3,820,967.57
* Rice Processing Center for Hamtic MPC – P19,350,763.21 and Integrated Barangays of Numancia in Numancia, Aklan – PP19,620,740

* Fertilizer discount voucher for 18,613 hectares of rice for Province of Antique – P63,284
* Hybrid rice seed for 18,613 hectares for Province of Antique – P25,030

For Livestock

* Community Swine Production through Clustering and Consolidation Project. Establishment of 300 heads Finisher Production with Biosecure Facility  for Barbaza Farmers Irrigators Association in Barbaza – P10 million
* Establishment of of 30 sow level swine multiplier and techno-demo farm with biosecure facility project for Belison MPC in Antique – P10 million
