MANILA – After three seasons with the BanKo-Perlas Lady Spikers, veteran libero Jorella “Ella” de Jesus agreed to bring her talents to the Creamline Cool Smashers ahead of the 2020 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
There, she will reunite with her former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles head coach Anusorn “Tai” Bundit and teammates Alyssa Valdez and Julia Morado.
De Jesus, Valdez and Morado were part of Ateneo’s starting six that vanquished defending University Athletic Association of the Philippines women’s volleyball title holder De La Salle University Lady Spikers in 2014.
Creamline has now more weapons on its arsenal by signing de Jesus, who can also play the role of a spiker, aside from key players Valdez, Morado, Jessica Galanza, Michele Gumabao, Pau Soriano and Kyla Atienza.
The team is on a bid for its third straight PVL Open Conference championship after sweeping last year’s edition highlighted by a finals series versus the Petro Gazz Angels.
PVL announced that it will tentatively start its 2020 season with the Open Conference rather than the usual Reinforced Conference since imports might not be available due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic./PN
