FILIPINA singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan is “over the moon” as her work has been featured in the new campaign of the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Lansangan’s “A Song About Space” can be heard playing in one of NASA’s videos for its #LaunchAmerica campaign, which “introduces a new era of spaceflight that returns the ability to launch astronauts to the United States for the first time since the end of the Space Shuttle Program in 2011.”
It aims to support NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley as they hop on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft in Florida on May 27 (US time).
“When a song you wrote about space and exploration seven years ago makes it to NASA,” Lansangan said in a Twitter post as she shared the good news.
“A Song About Space” is part of Lansangan’s debut album “Arigato, Internet.”
In a video back in 2016, the Filipina singer-songwriter said the track is her “open letter to the universe.”
“I feel like a lot of us have that innate fascination for space and what’s beyond us, what’s beyond earth, and I just wanted to translate my curiosity into a simple but catchy song,” she said.(ABS-CBN)
