RoRo terminal transfer mulled

ILOILO City – The city government here is eyeing to transfer the roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) terminal in Lapuz district to Loboc Port Terminal, also in the said district.

Jeck Conlu, head of the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), said the road there used to maneuver loads were constricted.

The proposed transfer is seen to free the area from traffic congestion.

The city government is targeting to start the project by the first quarter of next year.

Conlu said he will be coordinating with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).

He noted that the construction of t he RoRo ramp at the PPA in Loboc Port is about to be completed.

“The transfer will push through once it is done,” he said.

Conlu added that there is also a plan to widen the road from Lapuz Norte and Jalandoni area.

While the transfer is not yet realized, the PSTMO deployed personnel to man the traffic situation at the RoRo terminal./PN
