ROXAS City – Around 400 policemen from the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and municipal police stations will be deployed in the city as part of the weeklong Sinadya 2019 festival’s security plan.

CPPO deputy provincial director for operations Colonel Ferdinand Dordas said traffic auxiliaries and emergency responders will complement the police deployment.

Meanwhile, two executive orders were issued by Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas on Nov. 27 to ensure a peaceful and orderly Sinadya 2019 festival slated Dec. 3 to 9.

These directives include the organization of an inter-agency task force on Sinadya 2019 security, peace and order, the prohibition on sale of bottled soda and beer, and the use of barbecue sticks in all festival sites.

“We will also not allow the carrying of backpacks during the celebration,” Dadivas said, adding a security command post for police assistance will be put up near the public plaza.

One of the activities of the Sinadya 2019 is the sundown lighting on Dec. 6 – the interactive light display at the city’s heritage zone which covers the city’s bridge, fountain, provincial capitol, Immaculate Cathedral, public bandstand, city hall, and the museum.

The festival’s main highlight will be the “Pista Sang Immaculada Concepcion” or feast day of the city’s patroness, Immaculate Concepcion of Mary on Dec. 9.(With a report from PIA-Capiz/PN)
