Who’ll be Iloilo’s next police prov’l director?

ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. is currently reviewing the resum  és of three candidates vying to become the next director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

The candidates were recommended by Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

They are Colonel Bayani Razalan, currently serving as the officer-in-charge of the IPPO; Colonel Giovanni Musico, head of PRO-6’s Regional Intelligence Division; and Colonel Ferdinand Navales from PRO-6’s Regional Headquarters Support Group.

Defensor emphasized the importance of thorough vetting.

“We requested resumés from the Philippine National Police and are reviewubg their credentials closely,” Defensor said in response to media inquiries about his selection timeline.

He added that he personally reached out to the candidates’ colleagues and other mutual contacts to gauge their performance and reputation.

The governor has not set a specific deadline for his decision but plans to submit his choice to the PRO-6 upon the conclusion of his assessments. This step follows a protocol initiated by PRO-6, which took over the submission responsibilities after the national headquarters at Camp Crame failed to provide a list of candidates.

Colonel Razalan, who was appointed as the temporary IPPO chief on April 19, replacing Colonel Ronaldo Palomo, has been serving as the interim director. During his tenure, IPPO has seen significant operational success, notably achieving the highest number of arrests in the region with 139 captures out of 512 during a six-month anti-fugitive campaign, as reported by PRO-6.

Wanky has expressed satisfaction with Razalan’s performance, describing him as a dedicated and effective leader in law enforcement./PN
