BACOLOD City – A total of 1,543 motorcycle drivers participated in the launch of the Philippine National Police’s “Campaign Plan Clean Rider” in Negros Occidental.

Campaign Plan Clean Rider aims to fight crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects.

The launch in Negros Occidental was held simultaneously on Wednesday in the cities of Bacolod, Cadiz, Bago, and Kabankalan.

Six hundred eight licensed drivers with roadworthy/registered motorcycles were issued “Clean Rider” stickers, said Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, Bacolod City Police Office public information officer.

They were part of the 743 motorcycle riders who registered during the launch. The 135 others still had incomplete vehicle registration documents.

“They have to process their documents first. Once they complete them, they can submit their papers to their respective police stations to register,” said Gabana.

Motorcycles bearing the Clean Rider stickers have undergone inspection and have been properly registered in the province, city or municipality of the rider’s residence.

“The Clean Rider sticker indicates that, as a motorcycle rider, you are a law-abiding citizen,” Gabana said.

In Cadiz, 350 riders from the province’s 1st and 2nd districts participated; in Bago, 150 riders from 3rd and 4th districts; and in Kabankalan, 300 riders from 5th and 6th districts.

All the participants across the province signed the “Oath of Commitment and Support” to the campaign.

Police warned that stolen motorcycles with Clean Rider stickers can be easily intercepted and referred to the owners, with the latter’s personal and vehicle details recorded in the police database. (PNA)
