ILOILO – A driver died while his backrider was injured. Their motorcycle crashed against the steel railings of the bridge in Barangay Naulid, Miag-ao town around 11:10 p.m. on Sept. 28.
The fatality was identified as Michael Negolo, 31, while his backrider was Lory Regala, 45. Both were residents of the town’s Brgy. Maninila.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Danilo Nacional, investigator of the Miag-ao Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victims were drunk.
The victims overtook the vehicle in front of them along the curved road in Brgy. Naulid but lost control, resulting in the accident.
Further investigation showed that the victims were from Brgy. Dingle and they were planning to visit someone in the nearby town of San Joaquin to buy some alcoholic drinks.
Negolo was taken to the hospital but was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician, while Regala remains under treatment./PN
