ILOILO City – A speeding car crashed against a concrete wall then hurtled to a tree in Barangay Guzman Jesena, Mandurriao district before dawn yesterday. One died and five were injured. All were passengers of the car.
Peter Anthony Blancaver, a 19-year-old graduating student of Nursing and resident of Pilar, Capiz, died while being rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC). He died of severe head injuries.
The following persons were taken to WVMC, too, for various injuries:
* Saint John Zerrudo, 19, of Barangay Santo Rosario Duran, City Proper
* Marko Dumarao, 20, of Barangay San Juan, Molo district
* Benz Ryan Blancia, 20, of Tibiao, Antique
* Jaro Ricamonte, 21, of Molo
* Jeovien Bacuyani, 19, of Buenavista, Guimaras.
The car driver, Rundy Monsale, 20, of Barangay Baybay Sur, Miag-ao, Iloilo, was initially taken to QualiMed Hospital. He was eventually discharged and turned over to the Mandurriao police station.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. The car, a red Chevrolet Sail, was headed to the plaza of Mandurriao from a birthday party, said Police Officer 2 Louie Alilano of the Mandurrio police station.
Monsale lost control of the car he was driving fast, said Alilano.
The driver may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide with multiple physical injuries and damage to properties, said Alilano./PN
