1 dead in poultry farm fire, leaves P2.6-M damage

BACOLOD City – A farm worker was killed and 11 others were injured in a fire at a poultry farm in Purok Kasilingan, Barangay Mansilingan on Saturday afternoon.

Johnrel Esparagoza, 26, was trapped in the farm workers’ living quarters.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received a call around 1:16 p.m. that Ta-ala Farms Inc. was on fire

The fire struck the farm’s storage area and damage was pegged at around P2.6 million.

With six responding trucks, the fire reached first alarm status and was fully doused by 2:07 p.m.

The 11 injured laborers, meanwhile, suffered minor burns, bone dislocation and minor lacerations.

Those who sustained injuries were Frenz Estorco, Jhon Lexter Escaro, Felipe Ibañez, Christian Poltalotalo, April Boy Canagan, April John Silvero, Darwin Castillano, Dennis Cañete, Christian Paul Mission, John Paul Ramirez, and Bryan Estorco.

Arson investigators were still determining the cause of the blaze./PN
