BACOLOD City – A driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was killed in a head-on collision with a bus along the national highway in Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Wednesday night.
The 31-year-old Jennybert Valois Eliver of Sitio Rosario, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental was declared “dead on arrival” at the Hinigaran Medical Clinic.
Traffic investigators of the Hinigaran municipal police said the bus, driven by 51-year-old Rene Pacheco Gonzales, was heading south towards Kabankalan City, while Eliver was heading north towards Hinigaran town proper.
Gonzales told the police he saw the SUV driving erratically on the road and suddenly grabbed lanes.
The SUV flipped over in a nearby sugarcane field, while the front part of the bus was heavily damaged.
Gonzales and three bus passengers were treated for minor injuries./PN
