1 killed, 30 injured in Antique road mishap

SAN JOSE, Antique – A passenger was confirmed dead and 30 others were injured yesterday after a jeepney fell into a canal in this capital town.

The fatality was identified as 65-year-old Editha Aquino of Valderrama, Antique, a police report showed.

According to Master Sergeant Louel Biliran, the jeepney driven by Isidro Lizardo plunged on a canal after a Tipolo tree fell on the vehicle. It was on its way to Valderrama from the capital town.

Officers of the San Jose police station have yet to identify the injured passengers as of this writing.

They already received medical treatment at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose, Antique./PN
