‘1 of 2 vacant PRO-6 posts awaits Tayaba’

ILOILO City – Colonel Marlon Tayaba, the current director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), might land in one of the two vacant positions in the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, the new regional police chief, told reporters this during his courtesy call at Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr.’s office on Thursday.

According to Pamuspusan, Tayaba – with his good record as the IPPO head – could be PRO-6’s chief of the directorial staff and deputy regional director for operation.

Among Tayaba’s major milestones in the police provincial office are the campaigns against illegal drugs, loose firearms, and illegal gambling.

Pamuspusan said the final say on Tayaba’s fate will be from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.

Tayaba has been serving as the IPPO director for more than the usual two-year tour-of-duty period. He took over the position on June 19, 2017.

He is now waiting for an order giving him his new assignment.

Former governor Arthur Defensor Sr. previously said he would prefer Tayaba’s stint as IPPO chief extended.

Tayaba, in response, said he has to follow a “career path,” adding that serving Iloilo province for two years was “more than enough.”

But he said he would be willing to comply should the PNP order his extension as the IPPO head./PN
