BACOLOD City – Ten villages in this city are set to be declared “drug-cleared,” according to the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).
CADAC secretariat Lordielyn Joy Pereyra confirmed this after their meeting yesterday at the Masskara Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center.
Pereyra did not identify the barangays up for the declaration. She only said that eight of them are urban villages while the remaining two are rural.
Currently, Barangay 5 is the only village in the city that has been declared “drug-cleared.” Bacolod has 61 villages.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 6 gave Barangay 5 the “drug-cleared” status last year.
Meanwhile, Executive Assistant Sammy Montoyo, CADAC’s focal person, said the city’s “Reformatory Center” will be renovated.
The city government already allotted P5 million for the center’s rehabilitation, he added.
The center is located in the compound of the Bacolod City Police Office in Barangay Singcang-Airport./PN
