10-hour ‘brownout’ in Negros Occ. on June 9

BACOLOD City – There will a 10-hour power interruption in some parts of Negros Occidental on Sunday, June 9.

The scheduled “brownout” will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to Michelle Vicera, communication officer of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

Areas covered by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative’s Sum-ag and Lag-asan substations and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative’s Valladolid and San Enrique substations will be affected by the power outage.

Vicera said the NGCP is set to conduct maintenance activities on the Bacolod – San Enrique 69-kilovolt power line.

There will also be a power interruption from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. today in areas covered by Ceneco’s Murcia Feeder 2, said Ceneco officer-in-charge Jose Taniongon.

Taniongon said maintenance activities are set to ensure their power lines’ “reliability of distribution.”

He added that the maintenance works will help avoid further damages to their system.

Ceneco advises member-consumers to switch off all their electrical appliances during the power outage./PN

  1. It is not clear what areas will be affected in Bacolod City. . Can you provide further information on where and the time of the scheduled brownouts. Thank you
