ILOILO City – Ten persons were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala II, City Proper district around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Authorities identified the subject of the operation as Benjie Roque, 30, single, and a resident of the above-mentioned place.
Joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Iloilo, PDEA-Guimaras, Special Investigation Unit-Panay team, and Iloilo City Police Station 1 also arrested suspects Marlon Roque, 43; Marites Roque, 45; Henwen Roque, 30; Jecil Arellano, 22; Virgie Lorete, 44; Angel Jane Cantre, 19; Ronel Alido, 28; Roshel Osuña, 30; and Christian Victoria, 25, all residents of Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala II.
Roque was the first to be arrested after he handed over a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P5,000.
Seven of the nine others arrested were caught in a “pot session” in the same place, police said.
Cops recovered six sachets of suspected shabu, P5,000 in buy-bust money, coin purse, improvised straw, disposable lighters, rolled aluminum foil, improvised tooter, and other non-drug items.
The suspects were detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 1. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 would be filed against them./PN
