BACOLOD City – At least 10 job order (JO) workers of the local government unit (LGU) of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental tested positive for illegal drugs.
San Carlos City’s Mayor Rene Gustilo said the 10 were part of the first batch of 70 employees subjected to the city government’s annual surprise drug tests last week.
He, however, refused to disclose which offices the involved JOs were assigned.
Gustilo assured the public that the JOs’ contracts would no longer be renewed.
The LGU’s annual drug tests ensure none of its employees are drug users.
As to the regular employees, Gustilo said, anyone who would test positive for illegal drug use will undergo corresponding processes in accordance with the regulations set by the Civil Service Commission prior to termination./PN
