10 persons exposed to Bacolod mayor test positive for COVID

BACOLOD City – Lawyer Caesar Distrito, spokesperson of the group who traveled to Japan with Bacolod City mayor Alfredo Benitez from Nov. 4 to 7, disclosed that there were others who also tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Ten of those who went to Japan with Mayor Albee were found positive, and the rest were negative,” Distrito said.

Aside from the mayor, those who tested positive included Bacolod City’s Cong. Greg Gasataya, councilors Simple Distrito and Thaddy Sayson, he added.

“All of those found positive were in good condition and asymptomatic, or with just a very mild symptoms. They are all in isolation, even those who are found negative opted for a voluntary isolation,” he claimed.

He explained that upon their arrival, all of them immediately underwent swab test and isolated themselves.

The spokesperson also assured that all of them were fully vaccinated and will comply with the protocol of seven-day isolation but will continue to work at home, noting that “in fact all of them attended their regular session virtually.”

It was reported that the city mayor was also working from home after he first tested positive for COVID-19./PN
