A HUNDRED Ilonggo public elementary pupils and high school students were picked to join the volleyball clinic of Ateneo Lady Eagles and Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers on Aug. 20 at the University of San Agustin gym in Iloilo City.
The sports camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., the city government’s Sports Development Division head Rommel Castro said.
“The Iloilo City government selected the participants,” Castro told Panay News. “It’s a great opportunity for them to learn the basics of volleyball.”
Half of the participants were elementary pupils.
“The selected campers were those who really want to learn the sport but unable to do so,” he added. “So we are fortunate that Ateneo and Perlas agreed to hold this camp for the Ilonggos for free.”
After the clinic, Lady Eagles will have a by-invitation tryout, followed by exhibition games featuring Ateneo de Iloilo against University of San Agustin (elementary), Ateneo de Iloilo against Block 17 (secondary), Biron Cup All-Stars, and Lady Eagles against Lady Spikers./PN
