BACOLOD City – One hundred octogenarians in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, were recently granted financial assistance totaling P1.2 million by the city government.

The distribution, facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the City Treasurer’s Office under Grace Marie Fernandez, took place at the city hall’s lobby.

Each of the beneficiaries, aged between 80 to 89 years old, received P12,000.

Mayor Benjie Miranda said the cash aid was a gesture of appreciation for the elderly residents’ contributions to the community.

In a separate initiative, the city government’s Gugma Caravan brought essential services to the people of Barangay Hilamonan.

Services provided included medical consultations, massages, employment registration, free haircuts, as well as the distribution of seedlings, eyeglasses, and food packs.

Launched last year, the Gugma Caravan aims to bring government services directly to the residents of Kabankalan./PN
