ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has deployed around 10,000 police officers, or 85 percent of Western Visayas’ total police force, across the region ahead of the holiday season.
“We have been deploying our personnel since last week. We have reinforcements, too, from our regional command force, for police stations that need more police force,” said PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco.
Police are also deployed in seaports, airports and churches where bigger crowds are expected; likewise, assistance desks have been set up at transport hubs and major thoroughfares.
Francisco also reminded his men to place more police personnel in establishments dealing with money, especially banks, lending offices and malls.
“Alam naman natin na ang mga lawless elements ay nasa tabi-tabi lang waiting for the perfect time, so, dapat naka-in place na tao natin,” Francisco said.
The region’s top cop also directed Police Colonel Reynante Panay, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), to deploy civilian personnel to the field to help monitor the movements of criminals./PN
