SAN JOSE, Antique – A surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections prompted Mayor Elmer Untaran to lock down 11 barangays from July 28 to Aug. 11.
The following villages have at least six COVID-19 cases:
* Atabay (21)
* Barangay 1 (six)
* Barangay 2 (six)
* Barangay 3 (13)
* Barangay 8 (19)
* Badiang (six)
* Funda-Dalipe (29)
* Madrangca (13)
* Maybato North (six)
* San Angel (14)
* San Pedro (12)
In his Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2021 ordering the lockdown, Untaran also tasked barangay officials to strictly enforce the minimum public health standards (wearing of facemask and face shield in public, observing physical distancing and proper hand washing/disinfection).
He also urged people in the 11 barangays to do away with unnecessary travel.
As of July 29, San Jose had 179 active COVID-19 cases, 838 cases that recovered and 38 cases that died.
