ILOILO – An 11-year-old boy drowned in a river in Barangay Bagumbayan, Guimbal town in this province around 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 10.
Alias “Nash” had gone biking with another 11-year-old friend after lunch, heading toward a nearby dike.
According to the investigation of the Guimbal police station, the victim climbed up the dike and jumped into the river. However, due to the depth of the water, he struggled and ultimately drowned.
Police said his friend attempted to save the victim but was unable to do so. The boy then sought help from a passing motorist, who promptly reported the incident to the police and alerted responders.
Responders were able to locate the victim and rushed to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician./PN
