GUIMARAS – In Buenavista town, 1,135 rice farmers each received P5,000 Rice Farmer Financial Assistance (RFFA) on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (PAOS) headed by Alvin Nava, together with Mayor Samuel Gumarin, distributed the financial assistance at the town’s New Poblacion Auditorium.
RFFA is based on Presidential Directive Item No. 2, issued on Nov. 21, 2019 by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte. It ordered the national government, through the Department of Agriculture, to distribute financial compensation to rice farmers for income loss due to the drop in palay prices.
On Dec. 26, 1,748 rice farmers from the town of San Lorenzo received the RFFA. (With a report from Judy D. Bulquiren/PAOS Guimaras)/PN
