SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program, will extend aid worth P1.115 million to 115 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this province.
DTI-Antique information officer Engr. Lynna Joy Cardinal said the PBG is the support program of their agency for the recovery and continuity of businesses affected by fire incidents, disasters and armed conflict.

“The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has caused disruption to the MSMEs in this province,” Cardinal said last week Friday.

The beneficiaries were identified by the DTI through the Negosyo Center business councilors, in coordination with the local government units in this province, municipal economic enterprise and development offices and the municipal social welfare and development offices.

“The MSME beneficiaries will be given livelihood packages in the amount of P10,000 each,” Cardinal pointed out.
Out of the 115 beneficiaries of the program, three are engaged in vulcanizing and welding business, 61 are engaged in sari-sari store and 51 are in food and non-food production and processing, she added.

According to Cardinal, MSME recipients who are into the sari-sari store business will be given grocery goods while those with vulcanizing and welding shops will be provided vulcanizing tools.

Beneficiaries engaged in food and non-food production, she said, would be given packaging materials, utensils and other non-perishable items.

DTI-Antique will distribute the packages starting Aug. 14.

The recipients have to undergo an orientation on entrepreneurship development and business continuity planning conducted by DTI before they can receive their livelihood packages. (With a report from PNA/PN)
