119 fugitives arrested in W. Visayas in 10 months

ILOILO City – The Regional Maritime Unit 6 (RMU-6) apprehended 119 wanted persons in 10 months of operations across Western Visayas.

From January to October this year, eight fugitives were caught by RMU-6 while 111 were arrested by joint operatives of the RMU-6 and other police units.

Colonel Ervin John Provido, RMU-6 director, said they are not only focused in protecting marine life but also executed operations against illegal drugs and wanted persons.

“We are helping other units tin conducting operations. We are helping other units because we have the same mission – to eradicate illegal drugs and wanted persons,” Provido said.

Operatives of the RMU-6 recently arrested the region’s No. 6 most wanted person in Purok Baga-as, Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The 37-year-old alias “Bebe”, a resident of Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental was nabbed through the strength of an arrest warrant for rape as well as for violation of the Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act (Republic Act 7610)./PN
