ILOILO – As preparation for a possible surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, 12 district hospitals set aside up to 200 beds.
Dr. Cynthia Cabangal-Ng, chief of the provincial government’s Hospital Management Office (HMO), said this move was in accordance to the Department of Health’s Administrative Order 2020-0016 – at least 30 percent of public hospital beds and 20 percent of private hospital beds should be dedicated to COVID-19.
“We have 640 authorized bed capacity; 30 percent sina gin-allocate for COVID,” Ng told Panay News.
As of Friday morning, out of 200 dedicated beds in for COVID-19, 95 or 47.5 percent were already occupied.
Ng clarified that all the district hospitals only accept suspect or probable cases, saying majority of these health facilities are into Level 1 hospitals.
“Kinahanglan ang i-admit nga pasyente are only suspect case. Wala dapat sang comorbidities nga unstable like elderly,” Ng said.
These are the government-owned district hospitals in Iloilo province:
* Aleosan District Hospital in Barangay Bancal, Alimodian
* Barotac Viejo District Hospital in Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo
* Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Dalid, Calinog
* Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital on Alfelor Street, Passi City
* Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, Ilawod, Lambunao
* Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Barangay Ilaya 1st, Dumangas
* Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay
* Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan
* Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Tingui-an, Balasan
* Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Pungtod, Cabatuan
* Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital on Garriel Street, Guimbal
* Sara District Hospital in Barangay Anoring, Sara
These hospitals also offer regular health services like consultation for obgyne, general checkup and laboratory.
As of Thursday, the province had a total of 771 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Of the 771, 392 were local infections and 379 were locally stranded individuals, repatriated overseas Filipinos and authorized person outside residence. /PN
