ILOILO – This province listed 12 additional cases of the Delta variant of the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the genomic sequencing results released by the Philippine Genome Center.
According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), these cases were from Leganes, three; Oton, two; Pavia, two; Carles, one; Dingle, one; Igbaras, one; San Dionisio, one; and Lambunao, one.
Ten of these cases were local while two were returning overseas Filipinos.
However, the PHO has yet to determine how many of them have recovered. Backtracking and contact tracing of the concerned local government units (LGUs) were ongoing.
As of Sunday, Iloilo had 39 cases of the Delta variant.
Provincial Administrator Suzette Mamon earlier said no adjustments would be made to quarantine protocols.
“Our ‘Barangay Quarantine’ amo ‘na ini ang pinaka-maximum (measure). Siguro isa ka factor nga nagasaka ang cases kay ari na sa aton ang nagkalain-lain nga variants,” Mamon said.
But the provincial government reiterated the strict enforcement of the 3Ms – Magmaskara, Magdistansya kag Maghinaw – to curb the virus transmission./PN
