A year ago, Aklan had a total caseload of 5,322 with a  death toll of 115 due to coronavirus.

While Aklan remains at Alert Level 1, health authorities have urged the public to practice the minimum health standards to contain the spread of coronavirus.

They should always wear mask when leaving their home as the pandemic is not over yet.

Ongoing vaccination efforts to close the gaps of vaccinations among the vulnerable population are also prioritized. There is a slow roll out of booster shots in Aklan, with third doses administered to 13 percent of eligible population.

Residents who were vaccinated or had received the COVID-19 vaccine believe booster shots are unnecessary and the side effects appear stronger from COVID-19 boosters.

Moreover, the provincial government has encouraged the general public to get the booster vaccine shots even though the active cases are still relatively low./PN
