MANILA – Twelve Western Visayas-based volleyball players – seven Negrenses and five Ilonggas – are strutting their wares in the ongoing 2018 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix.
Generika Ayala Lifesavers has the most number of WV players – Bingawan, Iloilo native Fiola Ceballos and Bacolod City natives April Ross Hingpit and Patty Jane Orendain.
Defending champion F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, meanwhile, has two – national women’s volleyball team mainstay Aby Maraño of Passi City, Iloilo and Bacolod City’s Fritz Joy Gallenero.
Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors also has two – Bacolodnon Michelle Laborte, who is returning to volleyball after a number of years of absence, and Jonah Sebete of Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
Also parading two Western Visayas players is Cocolife Asset Manager with veteran Nerissa Bautista of Iloilo City and former University of Santo Tomas player Dancel Dusaran of Bacolod City.
Having one each are Smart Prepaid Giga Hitters with Jeannie delos Reyes of Iloilo City, Petron Blaze Spikers with Aiza Maizo-Pontillas of Passi City, Iloilo, and Foton Tornadoes with Genevieve Casugod of Negros Occidental.
Blaze Spikers (3-0) is currently ahead of the pack, followed by Cargo Movers (1-0), HD Spikers (2-1), Asset Managers (2-2), Tornadoes (1-1), Lady Realtors (1-2), Lifesavers (0-2), and Giga Hitters (0-2)./PN
