ILOILO – Approximately 12,000 barangay officials are set to convene at the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz, Iloilo City on September 15 for the annual Liga Day 2024.
This year’s event, themed “Connecting Barangays, Shaping Tomorrows”, aims to foster unity and accelerate progress across the province’s barangays, according to Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB)-Iloilo Chapter president and ex-officio Provincial Board member Amalia Victoria Debuque.
“By connecting one barangay to another, we pave the way for swifter development in our province,” she said.
The event will feature key local officials, including barangay captains, kagawads, treasurers, and secretaries.
Debuque also requested patience from the public, anticipating heavy traffic near the sports complex due to the influx of 12,000 delegates.
“We ask for your understanding as the area will likely experience significant traffic disruptions,” she added.
Liga Day 2024 marks the culmination of a month-long celebration that began on August 6. Activities included the launch of Barangay Aid on Wheels, a Sports Fest, and a Cheers and Yells Competition.
Numerous key figures have been invited to this year’s Liga Day, including Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., who will deliver an inspirational message; 1st District’s Cong. Janette Garin, 2nd District’s Cong. Michael Gorriceta, 3rd District’s Cong. Lorenz Defensor, 4th District’s Cong. Ferjenel Biron, 5th District’s Cong.
