KALIBO, Aklan – Nearly 13 percent of the fully vaccinated adult population in the province of Aklan already received their booster shots as of March 21, 2022.
Some 16 percent of Aklan’s population or 10,679 individuals, aged 60 years and above, had received their third Covid-19 shots, and about 12 percent in the age group 18-59 were also vaccinated with booster doses.
To date, 317,597 people for the 18 years and above age group had been fully vaccinated, and 45,478 senior citizens also received their two doses.
Almost 81 percent or 55,230 for 12 to 17-year olds also got booster jabs.
The first dose Covid-19 vaccination rate was 10.69 percent for the 5-11 age group and the booster dose vaccination rate was 4.85 percent.
Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores has appealed to all people to get fully vaccinated, including a booster.
With the roll-out of booster jabs in Aklan over the last couple of months, travel restrictions are also eased to help revive tourism and the economy.
Aklan confirmed eight active cases as of March 20, with a cumulative total of 15,187 infections, including 365 deaths. Daily cases have been declining recently with 12 towns without a single active case./PN
