MANILA – Over 13,000 applicants registered for the Independence Day Job and Business Fairs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held nationwide on Monday.

DOLE’s partial report revealed that as of 3 p.m. on Monday, the number of jobseekers that went to the 21 venues in 14 regions was 13,121 – the majority of them were women numbering to 6,603, while male applicants were at 6,518.

The number of job applicants qualified was 9,237, with local applicants numbering to 7,598, while 1,639 applicants qualified for overseas employment.

DOLE data also revealed that 1,158 job seekers were hired on the spot (HOTS), 1,006 were hired for local employment and 152 were accepted for jobs overseas.

The top 3 regions that recorded the most number of HOTS are: (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) MIMAROPA, 30 percent; Region 5, 28 percent and Negros Island Region (NIR), 23 percent.

The number of applicants that were interviewed for local and overseas jobs reached 12,128 and 4,024 respectively.

A total of 123,330 job vacancies were offered by 680 employers in the Independence Day DOLE job fairs nationwide. (PNA)
