ILOILO City – Regular or permanent employees of the city government started receiving their 13-month pay on Monday.
The 13-month pay is equivalent to one month full salary of an employee.
The city government allocated a total of P34,782,209 for the 13th-month pay or mid-year bonus.
According to City Administrator Hernando Galvez, this is the earliest that the city government released the 13-month pay.
“We believe ang intent sang aton kasugoan (on the 13th-month pay) is para maka-augment sa expenses sang mga estudyante sa eskwelahan,” said Galvez.
Classes in public schools resume next month.
The city government has over 1,500 regular or permanent employees.
Based on the guidelines set by the Department of Budget and Management, an employee must have rendered at least a total or aggregate of four months service starting July 1, 2016 to May 15, 2017 to be entitled to a mid-year bonus.
Those employees who have less than four months of service or those who are no longer in the service as of May 15 are not entitled to the bonus.
“Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog wants to release the 13th-month pay at earliest time because the mayor understands that our regular employees will use this money for their children’s enrollment,” said Galvez.
By end of this year, regular or permanent employees will also get their 14th month pay and cash gifts worth P5,000, said Galvez./PN
