MALAY, Aklan – One-hundred forty-two passengers were rescued from a vessel that encountered engine trouble while off the coast of Barangay Caticlan.
MV Super Shuttle Ferry 18 departed from the port in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro around 3 a.m. on Monday.
It was bound for Caticlan jetty port but while it was on its way, it experienced engine trouble.
The vessel sent a distress alert to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), which then responded immediately.
PCG personnel from the Aklan Station and Boracay Substation and Special Operations Force members rescued all the passengers – composed of 135 adults, four children and three infants.
Rescue teams from the Caticlan jetty port then towed MV Super Shuttle, which also carried seven rolling cargoes. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
