ILOILO City – Fifteen Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) and two non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Arevalo police station tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, city police director, said the infected individuals came in close contact with a police officer who died on June 25 due to cardiac arrest but was later found positive for COVID-19.
Garbanzos said some 27 police officers underwent swabbing on June 28, June 30, July 2 and July 7.
“Those who tested positive (for COVID-19) and living in Iloilo City were already in the city quarantine facility… Those living in the province were in their respective municipal quarantine facilities. They were asymptomatic,” Garbanzos said.
Currently, Police Major Rey Sumagaysay along with 15 men of the Iloilo City Mobile Force temporary took over the Arevalo police station.
The police station was already disinfected./PN
