ROXAS City – Fifteen municipalities in Capiz province have attained their respective blood unit targets – which is one percent of the local government unit’s (LGU’s) total population – through a series of mass blood donation activities in 2018.
These are Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Mambusao, Panay, Panit-an, Pilar, Pontevedra, Pres. Roxas, Sapi-an and Sigma towns based on records from Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Capiz Chapter.
“Dumalag and Jamindan have each accomplished more than three percent blood units vis-à-vis their population in 2018,” said PRC – Capiz donor recruitment officer Ketch Armiza.
However, records showed that Roxas City and Tapaz town have fallen short of their blood units target for the period.
Aside from the LGUs, mass bloodletting activities in the province were also facilitated by barangay councils, schools, religious and socio-civic groups, media entities and national government agencies, among others.
The combined efforts in view of the province-wide year-round voluntary blood donations have enabled the province to also attain its blood units target for the year since 2015.
In 2017, a total of 11,315 blood units were collected in Capiz which earned the province as the region’s top performer in voluntary blood donation. (PIA/PN)
