ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the Task Force on Morals and Values Formation of the city government prefer to use the term “rescue” to describe their apprehension of youngsters below 18 years old violating the curfew for minors.
On Monday night, they “rescued” 15 minors playing in computer shops.
Of these youngsters, one was a nine-year-old girl. The rest were boys between 10 and 17 years old, said Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson.
“We held them temporarily and explained to them why they were rescued. Some of them have been caught previously pero dungol man gihapon,” said Sangrines.
The ICPO contacted these youngsters’ parents so they could be released.
Regulation Ordinance No. 2006-020 set the curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day. It held parents or guardians of erring minors liable for the curfew violations.
The parents may be imprisoned from 30 days to six months.
On the minor’s first curfew violation, the parents would get a “first warning” from the Task Force on Morals and Values Formation.
A “last warning” to would be issued to parents for their children’s second curfew violation, and a subpoena from the court for the third offense./PN
